Music at St. Thomas, Haymarket Campus is contemporary in style and varies in genre (e.g. acoustic rock/pop, folk, jazz, classical, etc). We usually open and close our services with upbeat songs of celebration and praise. The middle of our services is geared more towards intimate worship and songs of reflection.
We use a mix of praise & worship favorites (e.g. Shout to the Lord, Come Now is the Time to Worship, Open the Eyes of My Heart, Every Move I Make), hymns arranged in a modern style (e.g.. Amazing Grace/My Chains are Gone, The Solid Rock, To God be the Glory, I'll Fly Away), Christian radio top 40 (e.g. If We are the Body, Blessed Be Your Name, Indescribable, Friend of God), and originals.
Below is an example of a list of songs from a typical worship service:
Opening - Days of Elijah (Robin Mark)
Songs of Celebration - How Can I Keep from Singing? (Chris Tomlin & Matt Redman), You are God (original)
Communion - Jesus Paid it All (hymn)
Offering - The Stand (Hillsong United) closing- Undignified (David Crowder) I Have Decided (author anonymous)
Song lyrics are projected on a screen and the congregation is welcomed to sing along, clap, and/or dance...or just relax in the presence of the Holy Spirit. SOTM- Each month we select a song to feature as our "Song of the Month". This is usually a song that is doing well on Christian radio and/or CCLI's top 25 list...thus qualifying as a song we probably should be using in worship at St. Thomas, Haymarket Campus.
